Service Description: A Posted Bridge is a bridge with specific posted weight limits in tons. All vehicles exceeding the specified weight limits are prohibited, inlcusive of vehicles that have an overweight permit. Any vehicle, regardless of any overweight permit, is not permitted to cross the bridge in excess of these posted weight limits. Emergency Vehicles -EV's: Pursuant to Section 1410 of the FAST Act (U.S. Congress, The Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (P.L. 114-94), emergency vehicles are designed to be used under emergency conditions to transport personnel and equipment to suppress fires and mitigate other hazardous situations (23 U.S.C. 127(r)(2)). Under this provision, the gross vehicle weight (GVW) limits for EVs is 86,000 pounds with additional limitations of 24,000 pounds on a single steering axle; 33,500 pounds on a single drive axle; 62,000 pounds on a tandem axle; or 52,000 pounds on a tandem rear drive steer axle.
